The Drudge Report had posted the fact that Oprah is refusing to Sarah on her program, so Oprah sent out her typical backstepping (backstabbing) response. I hope Sarah refuses her invitation AFTER she is Vice President!
OPRAH’S STATEMENT: “The item in today’s Drudge Report is categorically untrue. There has been absolutely no discussion about having Sarah Palin on my show. At the beginning of this Presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates. I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over.”

BIG DILEMMA: OPRAH BALKS AT HOSTING SARAH PALIN; STAFF DIVIDED
Fri Sep 05 2008 08:55:46 ETOprah Winfrey may have introduced Democrat Barack Obama to the women of America — but the talkshow queen is not rushing to embrace the first woman on a Republican presidential ticket!
Oprah’s staff is sharply divided on the merits of booking Sarah Palin, sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.
“Half of her staff really wants Sarah Palin on,” an insider explains. “Oprah’s website is getting tons of requests to put her on, but Oprah and a couple of her top people are adamantly against it because of Obama.”
One executive close to Winfrey is warning any Palin ban could ignite a dramatic backlash!
It is not clear if Oprah has softened her position after watching Palin’s historic convention speech.
Last year, Winfrey blocked an appearance by Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, timed to a promotional tour of his autobiography.
Oprah and executive producer Sheri Salata, who has contributed thousands of dollars to Obama’s campaign, refused requests for comment.

Is this a crock or what? Let’s look into this deeper by going over to HotAir.
How will that audience react to a freeze-out of Palin? Many want to see Palin speak to their issues, and might assume that the most successful woman in American entertainment would welcome the opportunity to make that introduction. Instead of making a business decision to do so, though, Winfrey has apparently made a political calculation that Palin will outshine the man she supports for President. [Read more.]
I am comfortable in declaring that this just about sums it up.
Oprah, if you do not give the EQUAL TIME to Sarah Palin that you gave to your candidate, you will be reduced to a political hack. I thought you were better than that, and I am very disappointed. You can count on me never watching your show again. Farewell.
Update: Mike Sandleburg has provided me with a link to Get Sarah Palin On Oprah. You can go to this site and vote to show Oprah that there are many people out here that are disgusted by this blatent lack of fairness. What is she afraid of? That Sarah will steal the stage? Well…d’uh! 😉

There’s already a petition and website up about this.

I urge everyone to sign it, Oprah needs to know the way we feel.
Thank you, Mike. I’ll add it to the list. 😉
As a long time Oprah fan….I am thoroughly disgusted, and disappointed. But isn’t it obvious “WHY?” Sarah is a HUGE threat!!!!
EVERYONE who supports Obama should be worried! Including Oprah if she does’nt provide equality on her show. MANY people I know will stop supporting her……
Dear Jenn, I understand what you mean. And the Left wants the Fairness Doctrine back? Then Oprah would have to shut down her show! If she is so afraid of Sarah as to not interview her, then this is not equal time. I wonder what they would say to that?
I have an idea of what they would say. She is not political. First lie. She is bigger than all the others. So? I could come back with something like, ‘That is precisely why she needs a conservative on her show one half of the time!’
There is much we can say, but I would prefer just to watch an interview. I posted a link from Mike so that Oprah might change her mind if enough of us sign it. (I think.)
Thank you for stopping by. Have a lovely day! 😉
Thanks Oprah! You’re doing conservatives A FAVOR. We don’t want Sarah Palin to be subjected to you, your fluffy relativism, or your cultish drones.
What I find remarkable here is how you talk about Sarah Palin as if she were an old friend or a personality that you have been following for a number of years. What do you know about her? Why not suspend judgment about the young woman for a while and see how she operates during the campaign? See how she responds to the flurry of reporters’ questions that are surely to follow her? Take a breath.
Oprah is not a journalist and it is not a news show. She doesn’t have to be “fair”. She supports Obama. That’s why Palin will never be on her show.
why is Sarah being on Oprah so important anyway?
I already don’t care what Oprah thinks or does … and this before her biased snub of Palin.
The Democrats couldn’t get a woman on their ticket in any way, shape or form. The Republicans not only could, but did.
There are a LOT more women than there are blacks … the US and the world MAY (finally) get an issues-oriented campaign.
Obama needs to take a long, hard look at what may be the writing on the wall. And Oprah should know that her back-stepping looks for all the world like a cat trying to cover up on linoleum. Oprah is not as powerful as she thinks.
please edit my previous comment to show “the U.S. and the world MAY (finally)” instead of “we MAY (finally)”. I am politically neutral … a spectator, at best, and I don’t want to appear to be taking sides in this issue. As a Christian I try, like Jesus before me, to be “no part of the world”. (John 17:15,16)
It is very refreshing to have such an honest man visit. Thank you. I hope you will stop by again sometime. God bless your family and you.
Why do you think she’s scared of Palin? She stated why she doesn’t want her on her show during the campaign. Whether that is true or not, the simple fact is that the McCain camp is keeping Palin out of reach of all interviewers. They may in fact not let her be interviewed at all. I think thats a bigger issue than whether or not she appears on a single show.
Quit being such fascists.
It’s Oprah’s show and she should have whomever she wants on her own show. It’s amazing how ‘some people’ instantly jump for the jugular when they can’t make people to kowtow to their demands. If you want Sarah on more shows than she has already been on, contact your Republican representative. I’m sure they have gazillions of shows already lined up for Sarah. I’m sure she has already been on more shows than any other VP candidate and for the record, I have not seen Obama’s VP choice on Oprah’s show either. But I guess that doesn’t matter to people who go around demanding that others constantly kowtow to them.
It’s too late to put the genie back into the bottle.
I went to the Oprah comments page, and hundreds and hundreds of people were swearing off Oprah.
Multiply that times the number of people that felt the same but didn’t write in, and you have millions now anti-Oprah.
Always wondered what it would take to expose Oprah.
She must have had some huge stake in Obama if she is willing to risk it all!
I would not let a racist like Palin on TV either. The woman refers to ethnic Alaskans(Inuits and others) are Arctic Arabs, Mukluks, and “F*cking Eskimos.
What a class act
Very simply, it’s okay if Oprah doesn’t want to put Palin on the show because she’s a Democrat and doesn’t want to give a Republican exposure. But where Oprah is wrong is in saying “At the beginning of this Presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates.” This is a lie, plain and simple. She had Barack Obama on in May and I can only assume that she is claiming that was before the Presidential campaign. It’s a pretty transparent. She could have just come out and said it: “I don’t want to give Republicans exposure on my show.” At least that would have been honest.
I will say that it’s a tough situation for her to be in. A lot of women watch her show, both Republican and Democrat. If she has Palin on, she gives a Republican exposure on her show (which like I say, is her prerogative to deny), and has a difficult situation in whether or not to discuss the issues. If she doesn’t allow her on, she can be honest and say she doesn’t want to give a Republican exposure, which opens her up to a lot of scrutiny and alienates fans. OR she can do what she’s done: lie and say she’s not allowing presidential or vice presidential candidates on her show even though she recently had Obama on. This too opens her up to scrutiny and alienates some fans. Either way I think the writing is on the wall.
It’s her show for crying out loud, she should be free to host whoever she wishes. Besides it’s glaring Oprah is all for Obama, so why do people how expect her to be bosom sisters with Palin. What bettter way to do her candidate in than to get all the ex-Clintons to vote for McCain.
Response to steadycat:
“Quit being such fascists.”
The term fascist applies to the left, not the right. Read some history.
“It’s Oprah’s show and she should have whomever she wants on her own show.”
No kidding. That is not at issue.
“It’s amazing how ’some people’ instantly jump for the jugular when they can’t make people to kowtow to their demands.”
You mean how liberals react when the mainstream media (accidentally) does not portray them positively?
Why did you put quotes around the words “some people” ?
“If you want Sarah on more shows than she has already been on…”
Which shows?
“I’m sure they have gazillions of shows already lined up for Sarah.”
You’re sure? Like which?
“I’m sure she has already been on more shows than any other VP candidate”
You’re sure? Like which?
“and for the record, I have not seen Obama’s VP choice on Oprah’s show either.”
Yes, Oprah could just as easily invite him too.
“But I guess that doesn’t matter to people who go around demanding that others constantly kowtow to them.”
Again with the “kowtow”? This is about Oprah’s blatant hypocrisy. She has Obama on her show twice, but Palin (or Clarence Thomas)? No way!
Imagine someone having a media outlet like say….a talkshow…a radio show…or even say…a BLOG and having an opinion about what they want to do with it…
Sometimes people make decisions based upon THEIR feelings and opinions…
So go ahead and boycott her show…I’m sure she’ll miss all 12 of you…
😉
About time the population of Earth came to their senses and understood that Oprah is a business woman and a talkshow hostess, not the second coming.
She wants the other side to win and is using her power and influence to aid in this endeavour. Perfectly within her rights. Perfectly human.
Any real news, anyone?
;->
SFX
There is very much real news, as a matter of fact. Have you read this article: Security Gains Set Stage for Economic Progress in Iraq by Tim Kilbride? DefenseLink.mil has several more news articles. There are also articles that I’ve been trying to get written, but I did get distracted. Sorry. 8)
Hi everyone. I’ve been a bit busy, but I thought I’d take the time to answer you.
First, this is a blog, and you are correct. I can say whatever I want to say here, but that does NOT mean millions of people are going to read it! LOL. I generally write about the Lord, confessions, prayer requests, the Military, the global jihad war, football, radio talk show hosts I support, fun and silly things, opinions of mine and mine alone, etc.
You all have something worthwhile to say, and I appreciate that you chose to share it with me. I hope you do not mind if I answer you philosophically instead of individually. It would be easier. If not, please let me know and I will address you personally. I must warn you, though, be careful what you ask for! 😉
As far as this being Oprah’s Talk Show, d’uh. I stated this fact in my article. She, as like many of the radio hosts, must keep an audience and bring profit to the Big Guys on top. They could care less what anyone does just as long as they make money.
There is a small difference between TV and radio talk shows. She is using the airwaves that I PAY TAXES FOR. Yes, the government owns these airwaves.
Now as far as the Fairness Doctrine. hehehe. NOW DO YOU KNOW HOW IT FEELS? I am not suggesting that people stop buying the products that sponser her show, nor am I asking anyone to boycott her show. Since I do not even watch her show, I doubt if she’d miss, too! lol. So why did I say I did? Uh…figured it out yet?
Do you blame President Bush for Katrina? WRONG! Try blaming the Mayor and Gov. Blanco. They REFUSED TO LET HIM HELP THEM. It is illegal for the POTUS to enter any state without their consent, not with Armed Forces and the such. Read up on your history.
Oops. That has nothing to do with what I was going to say. I said I watched her show because if I did not watch it, she wouldn’t care. It’s that simple. If she had Sarah Palin on her show? I’d have everyone in my family and neighborhood watching! But then again, it is her show, right?
She is a businesswoman, yes? Should I treat her differently than businessman? I would be just as disappointed with a man (if not more!) for making a political decision when he wielded that much influence.
Thank you for the good suggestions and comebacks from the other side. Oh, does it not state that this is a CONSERVATIVE site? Gee, I thought it did. Oh, you know what? It does not! I apologize for that. Thank you. I will fix that right away.
I am busy fighting the fairness doctrine because the only people they want to shut up is Christian Conservatives. People like Oprah get a free pass. The news gets a free pass. Not if I can help it. We have fought too hard for our freedom, and we should be on the same side of this issue. Freedom is something for which we must be ever vigilant, or else the government will encroach upon it wherever and whenever they can.
That means that one day you may have an issue that is so important to you but you will not find any place you are allowed to express yourself because you did not stand up and be counted when it was difficult because the people who were being bullied were from a different political party. When it comes back to you, and it will, what are you going to do? We have stood with you. Now you stand against us. Thanks, but no thanks. I do not need fairweather friends. I treasure Life, Liberty and Private Property too much. (God, of course, is above all of this!) Have a blessed day. 8)
Fascist doesn’t apply to the left; it’s opposed to both liberalism and conservativism.
I’d be more impressed if Oprah came forward and said: “No, I don’t want her on my show. I think she’s doing more to set women’s rights back than any man ever did, and I already announced my support for Barack Obama. Let’s keep in mind; this is a presidential election. She’s just on the ticket.”
Which is true. Why are you gunning for Palin to be on the show when she’s not even the candidate running for president?
@thenimrod: but May wasn’t during the presidential campaign. In May, Obama was still running for the nomination, not for the presidency. Technically, the presidential election campaign only started on Friday, when McCain accepted his party’s nom. Before that, everything was “presumptive.” Which basically means either “assumed” or “pretty certain.”
My God, is that all? It seems like forever! lol Actually, he was still fighting with Hillary for the nomination (technically, if you’d prefer to put it that way). I didn’t think it was that big of a deal. I just wrote a little something about it because of the hypocracy of the Left (not Democrats, the actual Left). They want to shut up conservative talk show hosts, but this lady can outright deny anyone (not just Sarah) she likes. Just as long as they disagree with her politically? That isn’t fair, but that’s life. I just wish people would stop using my tax dollars to do it!
Sarah had her chance to speak to the issues at the RNC. She chose that time to be petty, abrasive and condescending. She is a woman’s worst nightmare. Let’s return to some conservative, old fashioned values: this is one woman who should stay home and take of her family. It looks like they need it.
So you don’t approve of humor? Hmm. It is okay for Joe Biden to rag on the whole party and McCain (even though McCain was NOT my choice), but let a lady say one word about Obama and that’s ‘abrasive and condescending? Hun, grow up. This is the big leagues. They’re all politicians. What did you really expect? CowTowing to the Democrats like they’ve been doing for the past 20 years? Not anymore! And I’m glad! It’s about time someone got a backbone, and her name is Sarah Palin! LOL. It figures. It always has to be us women to straighten things out around here. I love it.
Sarah Palin would undoubtedly be a great guest on Oprah. She has the charisma, and an interesting story to tell. But that doesn’t qualify her for leader of the free world. And frankly it’s probably a good thing that Palin isn’t being paraded on TV at the moment by the Republicans because if she did get any difficult questions about domestic or foreign policy, it would be cringe-worthy to watch her fall into a media trap.
I understand your concern. Are you aware that she has been to Kuwait/Iraq? No? That is due to the fact that she does not announce her trips like some people we know, and she does not make a campaign stop out of it! I would not worry about anyone asking her questions. She can answer them. Relax and enjoy the ride.
Edmund-such an educated statement. Sarah Palin is married to a native Alaskan Eskimo; I highly doubt she refers to her husband’s family and friends, as well as other ethnic Alaskans in that manner.
As to Oprah not having Palin on her show, it just goes to show where the politics really lie. It is her choice not to have Palin on her show, certainly, it is her show…but it’s looking like a pretty bad business move.
Very nicely put, BaileyShoe. Thank you.
Oh, Sisyphus, how little you know.
The far left is more Socialist than Fascist. Fascism is more directly related to the conservative agenda. Bush even has his own scapegoats of middle eastern descent. He wants the nation to own and be owned by business.
The left wants the government to regulate everything for the people. That’s socialism.
So, you see, you’re wrong.
In fact, everyone is.
Neither candidate is worth anything. They will not do anything in office except get the United States into more garbage. They’re too busy listening to the people, and not to what needs to be done for the good of the country, like Universal health care and legalization and regulation of recreational drugs. Lowering the drinking age and raising the driving age. Legalization and embrace of Gay unions.
All of these things will actually help our nation in the world’s standing. The United States should be a leader in freedoms, not the leader in discrimination, as it is now.
McCain is a fascist white man that discriminates against entire groups of people. His way of running the country is to run it into the ground with useless wars in the Middle East. Obama isn’t much better.
Hello, I’m a Republican and a Christian and was just wondering what the big deal is. What’s so great about Oprah anyway? Something else that bothers me is that a lot of people are planning to vote for Obama strictly because he is black, not even knowing his background or what he really stands for. That’s reverse discrimination, isn’t it? The thought of him being our president terrifies me. I for one thought McCain’s choice was brilliant, but that’s just me.
Let’s elect Palin in 2012!!!
That way, we will celebrate stupidity, instead of those snobs and elitists who read books. Reading and learning is overrated.
Oprah and Palin should be able to like whoever they want to like, but their inherently public and (like it or not) political positions make such a decision more complicated than it would be for an average person…
