“[T]o exclude foreign intrigues and foreign partialities, so degrading to all countries and so baneful to free ones; to foster a spirit of independence too just to invade the rights of others, too proud to surrender our own, too liberal to indulge unworthy prejudices ourselves and too elevated not to look down upon them in others; to hold the union of the States on the basis of their peace and happiness; to support the Constitution, which is the cement of the Union, as well in its limitations as in its authorities; to respect the rights and authorities reserved to the States and to the people as equally incorporated with and essential to the success of the general…as far as sentiments and intentions such as these can aid the fulfillment of my duty, they will be a resource which can not fail me.”

–James Madison (Second Inaugural Address, March 1813); Reference: Inaugural Addresses of the Presidents of the United States.

FOB DELTA, Iraq (June 19, 2008) – When she was born, doctors didn’t expect her to live a week, but a 1-year-old Iraqi girl is defying the odds. She overcame the initial diagnosis, but without proper care, Noor Majeed could still die. Fortunately, surgeons in Boston have agreed to donate their services to help her, and a donor in Cambridge, Mass., donated $100,000 for the medical care of this patient. Noor’s surgery is scheduled for June 30 at Boston Children’s Hospital.

Noor was born with bladder exstrophy, which is a rare congenital disease in which the bladder protrudes outside of the abdominal wall. It occurs once in every 30,000 – 50,000 births, most often in boys. Separation of the pelvic bones also accompanies the condition, which is often associated with other birth defects. Surgery to repair bladder exstrophy is usually performed within the first 48 hours after birth.

The care required to correct bladder exstrophy is unavailable in Iraq. In addition to surgery to repair the bladder, Noor will also require orthopedic surgery on her pelvis and hips as well as reconstruction and corrective procedures, said Capt. Michael Mullaly, an operating room nurse with the 912th Forward Surgical Team. Mullaly was attached to the 948th FST as an operating room nurse when Noor began treatment in the FOB Delta medical facility.

“When Noor was born…and when I saw her condition…I wished to die,” said Zainab Najy, Noor’s mother. I felt hopeless and helpless…and because of the lack of adequate care that can treat her and because of our financial situation, we could not afford to help her. I was expecting her to die at any moment; I even told my mother that I don’t want to get attached to her, because I thought she would die soon. But as days go by, Noor resisted…and stayed alive. I was hurt all the time as I watch other children walking and playing…but Noor can’t even sit or walk. My life became filled with depression, sadness and pain,” said Najy.

“I was so sad and depressed, but now, I am happy because I feel that Noor will live and all this made possible by the American people…and the American troops and the medical staff who helped us save Noor’s life,” she added. “My feeling was desperate, for a father who sees his daughter suffering…and we could not help her. The Iraqi doctors could not help her, that’s why we came (to Army doctors),” said Neseer M. Jemeel, Noor’s father.

“I was so happy when I heard my daughter will be treated…because I had lost hope completely…but I am so happy now. I feel safe because (the Americans) are caring. They care about children, mothers; they know life is valuable, and they are true human beings.”

When Noor and her mother arrive in Boston, they will be greeted by a friendly face – Mullaly, an operating room nurse at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Worchester, Mass., plans to meet them when they land. “It can be overwhelming,” said Mullaly of traveling to a new country where you know no one and don’t speak the language. “I think a familiar face would make it easier.”

Mullaly has seen Noor on five occasions. “I’m pretty vested in this case. I’m attached to this baby,” said Mullaly. Doctors from the 948th Forward Surgical Team first saw Noor in February. Without treatment, Noor’s ailments could be catastrophic. Both conditions are rare in the U.S., and the causes for both are unknown, said Lt. Col. Paul Brisson, general and pediatric surgeon with the 948th FST.

Noor Majeed at the Forward Operating Delta medical facility where she received several life-saving procedures. She will undergo reconstructive surgery in Boston, June 30, 2008.

I know many have already heard the news that Tim Russert has died of a (possible) heart attack while at work earlier this afternoon at the age of 58, but I want to add my 2 cents. I could always count on Tim to have an interesting show, unless I really couldn’t stand the interviewee. That would be my hang-up, not his. He tried to treat everyone fairly, and he was mostly successful. When you made it to the Meet the Press show, you made it! I did think he may have been a little tougher on Conservatives than Liberals, but that again could be my perception. This is not a bad thing. Do not misunderstand me. It is good that our politicians get the tough questions. This way, we can see what kind of backbone (if any) they had. lol.

Who out there can fill his shoes? I cannot think of one person save Bret Hume from Special Report over at Fox News. I doubt they will ask him, and it will be to their loss. Am I suggesting that Tim is easily replacable? Of course not! That is why it is so hard to find anyone to take his place on a show that Tim literally pulled up from the ash heap of history.

Tim Russert will certainly be missed, and I will continue to carry the mantra of Bills for you, Tim. Go Bills! Rest in sweet Peace, Tim. May your family find solace in the outpouring of love and prayers that are following this sudden, horrible news. May you rest in Peace, Tim, and thank you for all that you’ve given. God bless you.

PS. BTW, Rosemary’s Thoughts was one year old yesterday.

I have collected a variety of news articles for your reading pleasure. While they may be links to other sites or videos, I have been just a little too busy to get it right. I hope you enjoy it! Have a great weekend.

Here are some undercover videos from ACT! for America from mosques in the UK: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, , and Yasir Qadhi talks about ‘Dispatches – Undercover Mosques’. Bilal Philips responds to ‘Dispatches – Undercover Mosques’, Abu Usama responds to ‘Dispatches – Undercover Mosques’, Dispatches Under Cover Mosque Part 1, Dispatches Under Cover Mosque Part 2, and many more responses here. [Source: ACT! For America.]

For this week’s Flight 93 Blogburst, here is Alec’s post. Sorry, but I just got too busy. A call for America’s churches to step up as witnesses for the truth about the Flight 93 memorial. [Source: Error Theory.]

The Vets For Freedom made it into the Wall Street Journal! Here is the article: Why Obama Must Go to Iraq, By: Pete Hegseth. Their PAC promises to make sure that our troops are well served, no matter the admistration, and they will be steadfast as we come together and stand with them. God Bless Them!

As you may have figured out by now, I am sooo far behind! Here is the link to the Blogs4Borders Video Blogburst: 06/02/08.

I must share with you one of our best mibloggers who is actually on the ground in Iraq. He has been to Afghanistan as well. He knows of what he speaks, and he is pro-American–not pro-democrat nor pro-republican. Pro-American. It’s about time someone was! Here are some of the stories he has written recently: Townhall (DON’T FORGET, JOIN TOWNHALL AND GET HIS BOOK FREE!!!), An Open Offer to U.S. Senators, Great Americans: David Leimbach Comes Home. Investigation Launched, The Buck Stops, In Memory of SPC David Lee Leimbach, Memorial Day, Curiouser and curiouser and Distributor Refuses to Carry “Moment of Truth in Iraq” on Military Bases.

There is just one more video I would like to share with you. (Well, I’d like to share a lot of them, but I chose this one.) For those of us who are curious about whether or not we would have won WWII if we had the same press back then as we have today, watch this. IT IS NOT TRUE, it is a ‘what if’…You will find it at JammieWearingFool: June 6, 1944, the ‘Day of Days’. Great job guys.

Lastly, but certainly never leastly, take a moment out of your day today to remember all of those who went to war before you and for you. This is D-Day. God bless our military! Thank you, men and women of the Armed Forces. We are very grateful for your lives, no matter how long or short they have been. I also pray for our military of today. I thank God for you each day. I also pray for your protection. Keep your heads down and your powder dry. We love you. God bless you.

I had written a whole post about the disconnect between London’s Mayor Livingston and Mayor Boris Johnson. The bottom line? Newly elected CONSERVATIVE Mayor Johnson told chavez to take a hike, after defeating LIBERAL Livingstone was accepting kickbacks to keep a PR office open in London and an office in Venezuela. The article can be found at the Opinion Journal section of the Wall Street Journal titled, “No Mas.” He also has a few words, as do I, for some of our representatives in Massachusetts.

Side note: If we are so hated the world over, why do Conservatives seem to keep winning? Hmm??? ;)

Why the summary? Because the article I wrote was a little lengthy, and someone come and moved my CPU in the middle of my work. My CPU is rather sensitive, and it became ‘unplugged’. Did I lose everything I was on at that time? YES!!! Ugh! (I forgive that person. It’s only a story.)

As many of you remember, the Vets For Freedom went to DC on April 8, 2008, to meet with our congressmen and senators on the same day that General Patraeus was scheduled to testify before congress. Most of the people we pay to be there showed up, including Barack Omama. Why do I single him out? It was his first time showing up to work, and he left to go campaigning right after he asked only one question!

He has never been to Iraq since he has been in the senate. He had not gone in past, either. If he becomes Commander-in-Chief, how is he going to make policies about a country he has never seen? He is supposedly a man of the world. Well, Sen. Obama, if you will meet with a country who is murdering our men and women in uniform trying their best to protect your backside, why can’t you listen to our Generals and our Men on the ground?

Here is a video put out by Vets For Freedom PAC.

I would like these questions answered myself. After all, we the people deserve to know what your plans are for Iraq and for our troops that you will swear to support. Let me inform you of a fact which may have slipped your mind. When you take that oath of office, God forbid, it no longer remains just a ‘hope’ of yours to bring those troops home. You will have sworn an oath which requires much more of you. So much more that only then will you be able to comprehend what President Bush HAS DONE for ALL OF US, not just George Soros. Good day.

If you like this video, if you would like to help this Polical Action Committee (PAC) to campaign and support those people who truly support our troops AND their mission, if you want to have your voices heard, please donate to the Veterans For Freedom PAC today. They will support anyone who fits these qualifications. That means democrat or republican. (I will start capitalizing the party names once they earn it.) They support active duty troops and they get their messages out to the public in a way no one seems capable of doing. I have donated. Won’t you, please? Thank you.

PS. Please use this digg. I have set it up so that it will go directly to their site. They will get the credit for this article, and I want it that way. Thank you.

PSS. They also support Veterans! :)

CORRECTION: He has been to Iraq before, but I do not know when. I do know it was not after he won his senate seat in 2006.

How does that work, anyway? Day=weekend? ~~huh?~~ Oh well. I’ve some news below.

My friend Rurik at Veteran-American Voices emailed this wonderful news a couple/few days ago. I would like to share it with you (obviously) as we kick off the Memorial Day weekend. The following is a re-post by WorldNetDaily. Happy Memorial Day.

‘Unlawful command influence’ taints Murtha case.

Haditha ruling ‘gives hope justice will rise above politics’

© 2008 WorldNetDaily.

A military prosecution of U.S. Marines involved in a 2005 firefight against insurgents in Haditha, Iraq, is tainted by “unlawful command influence,” according to a judge in the case against Lt. Col. Jeffrey Chessani.

The ruling came yesterday from Col. Steven Folsom, who is hearing the case against the officer who was not at the scene of the attack on U.S. Marines, but is facing a court-martial based on allegations he did not accurately report or thoroughly investigate combat action between Marines he commanded and insurgents that resulted in the deaths of 15 Iraqis.

The Nov. 19, 2005, firefight also resulted in 14 Marine casualties including one death. “Considering the politically charged nature of this case – and particularly this motion – Col. Folsom made a courageous decision,” said Richard Thompson, president and chief counsel of Thomas More Law Center, which is defending Chessani.

The motion that cited circumstances including a public condemnation of the U.S. Marines by U.S. Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., before the conclusion of the investigation was brought to the military court by Law Center attorneys Robert Muise and Brian Rooney, both former Marines. Courts consider unlawful command influence the “mortal enemy of military justice” because it signifies that at some point during the development or prosecution of the case, decisions were made based on a commander’s opinion or desire, rather than the facts themselves.

“Although the case is far from over, yesterday’s ruling now forces prosecutors to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that: (1) the facts upon which the unlawful command influence is based are untrue; (2) those facts do not constitute unlawful command influence; or (3) the unlawful command influence will not affect the proceedings,” the Law Center said. “The taint of unlawful command influence started from the inception of the investigation, when high-ranking Pentagon officials decided to make Lt. Col. Chessani a political scapegoat to appease a liberal anti-war press and politicians,” Thompson continued.

“This ill-conceived prosecution has resulted in the removal of one of America’s most effective combat commanders in Iraq by the Marine Corps’ own standards. Although nothing can undo the harm caused to our nation and to Lt. Col. Chessani and his family, this ruling gives us hope that the military justice system will rise above the politics that fomented this prosecution and allow Lt. Col. Chessani, who devoted more than 20 years to the Marine Corps and to the defense of our nation, to get on with his life,” he said.

Folsom’s ruling said the defense met its burden of presenting “some evidence” of actual and apparent unlawful command influence. The Law Center said the decision was based on evidence that various generals who controlled the disposition of the case may have been influenced by Marine lawyer Col. John Ewers, who attended dozens of closed-session meetings in which the case was discussed. Ewers was an investigator of the Haditha firefight, and is a witness prosecutors plan to call in the case. “Consequently, he should not have been involved in any of the meetings,” the Law Center said.

The counts against Chessani were triggered following a house-to-house, room-by-room battle four of his enlisted Marines engaged in on that day in 2005 after they were ambushed by insurgents in Haditha. “Even though Lt. Col. Chessani promptly reported the events of that day to his superiors, including the deaths of 15 noncombatant civilians caught in the battle, nobody in Lt. Col. Chessani’s chain of command believed there was any wrongdoing on behalf of the Marines,” the law firm said. But months later, a Time magazine story “planted by an insurgent propaganda agent,” caused Pentagon officials to order the investigation, the law firm said.

The article was followed quickly by Murtha’s comments. He held a news conference and announced he’d been told by the highest levels of the Marine Corps there was no firefight and Marines “killed innocent civilians in cold blood. All the information I get, it comes from the commanders, it comes from people who know what they’re talking about,” Murtha told reporters.

Those statements conflicted with investigative results from the military itself. A first investigation by Army Col. G.A. Watt found “there are no indications that (Coalition Forces) intentionally targeted, engaged and killed noncombatants.” Later, Army Maj. Gen. Aldon Bargewell found no coverup, the law firm said.

Folsom previously ruled that former Marine Commandant Michael Hagee will testify about his conversations with Murtha regarding the firefight in Haditha but that Murtha is being given an exemption and will not have to testify about his statements.

Eventually eight Marines were charged, but counts against five already have been dropped. Those defendants are Lance Cpl. Stephen Tatum, Capts. Randy Stone and Lucas McConnell, Sgt. Sanick P. Dela Cruz and Lance Cpl. Justin Sharratt. The case against Chessani continues, as do cases involving 1st Lt. Andrew Grayson and Staff Sgt. Frank Wuterich.

Congressman Murtha refuses to apologize to anyone for his lies, but he supports the troops. Yeah, and I’m Cleopatra…

I need everyone to post about this. Kat is having her annual Fouth of July ‘Thank you’ card run, and she only has 500 cards so far. We can do better than this! She will be on the radio tomorrow at 2-3 pm EST at station AFB Radio with CJ CajunLady. Please tune in. The link to the station is America’s Freedom Broadcast Radio. On the left-hand side there is a ‘Listen now’ button. Just click on it.

The link to this radio program is AFB Radio. The link to Kat’s site is Operation Love From Home. The last day she can accept any UNSEALED ‘Thank you’ cards is June 14, 2008. Remember, they have to be read and mailed. They are read as a precaution. This is not a dating service, so don’t send love cards please!

Kat has done so much for our troops, and all we have to do is mail her some “Thank you” cards. That’s it. It’s that simple. I’m sure you all know people who would like to contribute. Don’t you remember those leftover cards you put in a drawer somewhere? Now you can use them! Not that I’m saying leftovers are okay but if that’s all you have, please send them. Help us to help her reach 5000 cards. Help her to help our men and women in uniform. Show them that you still support them.

All ‘Thank you’ cards must be signed and UNSEALED. Mail these cards to:

Mrs. Kathy Orr
OPERATION: LOVE FROM HOME
P.O. Box 1660
Loganville, Georgia 30052

If you have any questions, please contact her at LoveFromHome AT Gmail DOT com. Her site is Operation Love From Home. If you listen to the radio program, you may notice that the deadline is June 7. She has extended it, so don’t worry about being wrong. Thank you for all your support, and you may copy this if you like. ;)
